Hey everyone,
Sorry that it's been so long since I posted. I was sick this past week and have had a ton of work to do. I have already gotten signed up with several programs at the school now. On this upcoming Monday, I am playing correctional volleyball with Tim and our friend Jake, and two people who we don't know. This is where we go and play volleyball with inmates in jail, and I heard that it always fills up fast, so as soon as I saw it we had to sign up. I also have been accepted as a DREAM mentor, meaning that every Friday I, along with a big group of other kids, go and mentor young kids. We have only met one Friday so far, but it seems like this will be fun. On the 27th, I also start classes for the Fire Team here at St. Mike's so that I can eventually become a firefighter, which I am really excited about. This past month (almost) has flown by so fast. I really miss my home a lot at times, but my friends keep me happy. I make sure that I talk to my parents on the phone several times a week, and I call my grandparents and my aunt also. The one thing that really gets to me is that I cannot see my dogs. I have three dogs (two lab mixes who are brothers and a beagle, all rescues). Every day that I was home this summer, I just laid down with my dogs all day, but knowing that I cannot do that until I go home this next month and knowing that it will only be for a few days hurts. At the same time, though, it is all worth it for how much I enjoy St. Mike's. Well that pretty much sums up everything I have to say in this post.

Thinking about home
I had always thought that one of the hardest parts of college would be having to go away from home and leaving everyone behind, but I figured I would miss my parents a lot and thought that it would be hard to live without having my parents there at every second. Saint Mike's, however, made that transition easier than I thought it would be. Everyone makes me feel at home, and though you realize you have a lot more freedoms, you don't necessarily have to act on them. Anyways, when always thinking about how much I would miss home, I figured I could call my parents or text them or find a way to talk to them all the time. I do call them several times a week normally and I text them almost everyday, just to check in and see how everyone is doing and tell them how much I miss them and love them (they are my parents after all). Anyway, it seemed as if it was going well and it still is, but then I realized that it's not just me that I have to worry about, it's also my parents missing me. They always bragged about having an "empty nest" and said that they wanted to move everything of mine and throw everything out and clean our room once we left. Each time I talked to my parents, they seemed to be handling us being gone well, and I think they are. However, I received a bag of items I left at home today. Some of our family friends were visiting their son up here and since they live down the road from us, they agreed to bring up some of our items. In the bag, there were our baseball gloves, electric razors, CDs, and there was a mini notepad. I figured the notepad must have just been left there from the school year, but once I got back to my room and unpacked the backpack, I saw a note that said "Hi guys! www.jrgaudion.blogspot.com -Dad". Once I saw this, I thought what could this possibly be? So I immediately checked out what it was that my dad wanted me to see. He has been writing a blog as well saying how difficult it has been for him trying to do everything he thought he would once he had the open nest. At the bottom of each post, he writes "I miss them," and that makes me think about how much I miss him too. I will be going home for a weekend in October for homecoming at my high school, but I realized it's not only me who is missing people. It's important to keep in contact with your parents when you go off to college because like someone once told me, it's not just you who is moving on with your life, when your parents have you, they agree to someday let go and let you go on and do your own thing and go off to college, and it's a big sacrifice to them. So I figured I would write this post as a thank you to my parents and to end it as though my dad ends his.
I miss them.

Getting into the groove of things
Hey everyone! Sorry it's been a while since we've blogged, we've been plagued by colds! I had one this whole past week and Scott has one now but not to worry because even through the sickness, I was still able to enjoy having a lot of fun. The past week and now this week have both been going smoothly. I've gotten into the swing of things with my classes and this past weekend was the highlighter dance to welcome everybody back to campus and it was awesome! (picture on side is not actually from SMC dance, sorry) There were highlighters everywhere and good music, which makes two of the best things combined together. They are still working very hard here to make sure we are all comfortable. Also, tonight, I went to Sloane to have dinner for the first time. That's the fancy dining place up on north campus. It was amazing! You get to get away from the normal cafeteria food and sit down and have a 3 course meal brought to you. I had clam chowdah, chicken parm, and cake for desert and it made me feel so great to be able to get away from the everyday caf food, which is still good, don't get me wrong, it's just nice to change it up once in a while. But yeah, sorry about the lateness with this post. Remember to follow me on twitter @Timnotscott and add me on Facebook or ask me questions on formspring (link found on first post)-@Timnotscott

Week two!
So the second week is finally underway here at SMC and I am feeling nice and comfortable here. The classes aren't necessarily easy, but there's so much help available at any time and now I'm more into the groove of things here. Also, there are so many events every weekend and during the week here and so many good ways of making friends here. This has probably been the best transition to a new school that I've ever had and I can say that I truly Like St. Mike's (like those cool nifty caribeaners say). I'm so glad that I chose to attend this school and even though the weeks can seem long sometimes, the past week went by fairly quickly so the transition is going pretty nicely.

Apple picking!
So today I decided to do the freshman apple picking because it was something to do and it was one of the most fun activities I've done here so far. We went to an apple orchard and picked apples. That alone is always fun and was a great experience in itself. However, you have to add to the mix the great cause that it was for. We ended up donating hundreds and hundreds of apples to the Chittenden food shelter. It was a blast. The faces that the workers there had as we brought in apples alone made it worth it, but then we were told that these apples would feed thousands for several weeks. It was my first experience with MOVE (mobilization of volunteer efforts) at SMC, but no doubt it will not be my last.-@Timnotscott
